Tongariro Alpine Crossing

The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is called as the best one-day trek in New Zealand and is regarded as among the top ten single-day treks in the world. It is a 19.4 km (12 mile) one way hike. You can take a shuttle bus to the trail head and get picked up at the other end iin the afternoon. I went in May and there was ice and snow around. Definitely one of the best hikes I ever did.
